Purpose: The purpose the of the Attendance Committee is to review and discuss students with poor attendance, address questions and concerns about attendance processes and procedures, and coordinate efforts to improve daily and class attendance.
Mission: To improve the daily and class attendance rate at Albany High School which will lead to higher academic achievement and an increased graduation rate.
Goals:
- To identify students with poor attendance and share pertinent information regarding these students
- To collaborate and devise a comprehensive plan to work with students who are having attendance problems resulting in improved attendance
- Goal is to have a 95% daily attendance rate
- Non-compulsory students who choose to discontinue their education at Albany High School will be linked with alternative education programs (GED programs, Job Corps, etc…)
- Strategies:
- CIC meetings to be held with selected 1st time 9th graders to develop a plan to improve their attendance and grades. Each of these students will be assigned to one of the team members who will closely monitor student’s progress and work with the student to achieve goals.
- ATAP and/or Home School Coordinators will conduct home visits on students with chronic attendance/truancy problems.
- Attendance Officer will file PINS on students all school interventions to improve attendance have been unsuccessful.
- Team will work with the school district’s technology department to improve attendance reporting mechanisms.
